This standard presents a modification of the complete Canada Standard sizing system described in CAN2-49.5-M. More specifically the control dimensions given in CAN2-49.5-M are called size indicator dimensions and for all children's and girls' sizes, crotch height has been replaced by waist height as the vertical size indicator dimension to conform more closely to present trade practice. This sizing system does not cover footwear, hosiery, headwear or gloves.
The standard contains a selection of those sizes from complete system which are currently of greatest commercial interest and certain intermediate sizes have been added to satisfy the needs of the retail trade.
The sizes are grouped into three ranges -- Slim, Regular and Chubby ranges for girls and Slim, Regular and Husky ranges for boys.
The sizes are designed by code numbers that correspond to current trade usage and size indicator body dimensions. Example of garment labelling methods are given in par. 3.2.
Measurements of certain of the size indicator dimensions have been rounded to the nearest whole or half centimetre for convenience.
This standard also contains definitions of body dimensions and the necessary body measurements required to define each size.
